Anatomy of a pre-production document

For Project 2, all of you need to prepare a pre-production document of some kind. Some guidelines on what this could be are as follows:

- fancy title page
- table of contents (1 pg)
- synopsis (1 pg : 200 wds)
- detailed project description, including methodology, character design, story or game spec, background etc.(2-3 pgs : 1000 wds)
- annotated references (2-3 pgs : 500 wds)
- storyboard and/or concept art with at least 2 or more pages in colour (5-10 pgs)
- production plan / timeline for semester 2 (1-2 pgs)
- concluding remarks (1 pg)

Essentially, everything you need to begin production. Yes, it is a big deal - this is your MAJOR project for the FINAL year of your UNIVERSITY degree.

YOU ALL NEED TO ELECTRONICALLY SUBMIT A DRAFT OF THIS DOCUMENT BY 12NOON THIS THURSDAY 30th APRIL.

Week 8 ::: Opening animations - the Joel & Indae mix

Week 8 ::: Opening animations

As many of you are creating opening animations or title sequences for your concepts, we looked at loads of them this morning. Such as ...

Tekkon Kinkreet - great character introduction and flythrough animation of Treasure Town

Akira - fantastic soundtrack and opening scene

NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind - tapestry montage shows mythology of her world

Princess Mononoke - straight into the action setting up sense of mystery

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
- classic opening typography and very clear (obvious) story setup. No mystery here.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day - chilling battle scene and opening narration from Sarah Connor

Transformers - Optimus Prime sets up the story for us before we are introduced to one of the main characters then straight into Decepticon action.

Week 7 ::: onedotzero_select dvd5

Today was eye candy day. We watched the entire DVD of onedotzero_select dvd5.

Very cool.
